MHS Announcements - Thursday, February 29, 2024 



*DECA attended state earlier this week and had 24 members that qualified to compete.  The following students will be heading to nationals in California in April.

Kya Hayden received gold for School Business Enterprise - Retail

Izzy Kolek and Emma Dean received 4th in the Community Giving Project (Mr. Menomonie)

Aiden Anderson and Max Jaeger received 5th in Sport and Entertainment Marketing Team

Other accomplishments were Evelyn Doyle medaling in her cluster exam for Principles of Business Management and Administration and Ava Arndt medaling in role play 1 in Human Resource Management.

 

*The Menomonie Area Aquatics Club is looking for some additional volunteers to help on Tuesday, March 5. This is a large middle school meet with several schools coming. Please arrive at 4:15 p.m. This meet should be done around 6 pm. We are in need of several more timers and two concession workers.  Email [email protected] to sign up and to ask any questions.

*Seniors, local scholarships are due in less than a week now! Make sure to stop by Student Services during Study Hall tomorrow if you have any questions about these applications. Ms. Belko will be available to help. Monday March 4th is the deadline.


*Attention Art Club! Art Club is today after school from 3:30-4:30 in room 174. Join us to try out drawing with India Ink!


*If you are interested in joining choir and would like to audition for Concert Chorus, auditions will take place each day next week either after school or during study hall. Please reach out to Mr. Singer for the audition materials and details - we hope to see you there.

 

*Are you interested in some Mustang Strength & Speed gear?  Our annual Lift-a-Thon fundraiser is just over a week away.  If you are interested in Lifting and/or collecting donations please come see Mr. Jochimsen for details. 


*Are you interested in becoming a CNA? We have seats to fill for our SUMMER class! This is a GREAT opportunity to learn about patient care and possibly see if a career in the medical field might be a good fit for you. We will hold interviews right after spring break to fill the spots for the Summer Class so if you have any questions, see your counselor and apply using the link in the Grade Level Google Classrooms. You must be 16 at the time of clinicals to be eligible for the class.


*The HOSA blood drive is coming up on Friday, March 22 if you are interested in giving blood please see Mrs. Allenstein or a poster around the school to sign up.  We could use your help to save lives! 


*Educators Rising will be having a book drive this week today and tomorrow during lunch. We will be bringing the books to our State Summit next week. The books need to be ELEMENTARY or MIDDLE SCHOOL level.  For every 2 books you bring, you can spin the wheel for a prize! Bring your books by the booth in the lunchroom this week Thursday and Friday!


*Are you interested in taking college classes next year? Students in grades 9-12 can take classes through the Early College Credit program (which is with Universities) and students in grades 11-12 can take classes through the Start College Now program (which with the Technical Colleges). Applications are available in Student Services and all details are also in Grade Level Google Classrooms for students. If you need assistance, consider making a planning appointment with your Counselor this week before the Application Due Date of Friday, March 1st for the Fall Semester!


*If you are interested in one of our CVTC FALL ACADEMY opportunities, such as: PreNursing/Healthcare, Electrical Maintenance or EMT1/EMT2 - the deadline to apply for any of these programs will be Thursday, March 7th, so plan accordingly! These may impact your schedule quite a bit, especially PreNursing/Healthcare and Electrical Maintenance, so see your Counselor if you want to apply for either of these programs and haven't done so yet. Don't miss the deadline, or this option will not be available for next year. Just a reminder that this is the only open to Juniors/Seniors for PreNursing/Healthcare, and open to Seniors only for Electrical Maintenance!

  

*Tickets for the boys basketball regional semi final can be purchased online at rfwildcats.org  Click on tickets in black on the top of the screen

Go down to the basketball game (there are other tickets listed so be careful what you are choosing)



Today's Events:


*Girls basketball is traveling to Marshfield to take on the Lakeland Thunderbirds for the Sectional Semi Final tip off at 7:00 pm
